LA Car Rental Rules

When it comes to renting cars in LA, there are different rental rules according to the company you choose. On the other hand, there are a few common LA car rental rules that you will find at most agencies.

Common car rental rules

The very first car rental rule is the age of the driver. Most car rental rules state the drive must be at least 25 years of age. For those between the ages of 18 and 24 there is normally a surcharge.

Practically every car rental agency asks for a credit card. Some may allow a cash deposit, but this is not common. Not only will you need a credit card in order to rent a car, but also in many cases, your credit history will be checked. If you do not have good credit you may not be able to rent a car at all. Along with this, your driving record will also be checked.

It would be in your best interest to know your credit history and your driving record before looking to rent a car.

Car Rental Rules – Extra Fees

It may be hard to believe, but most LA car rental rules have other fees listed in the policy. If you do not read over the policy, you may be very surprised when you drop off the vehicle and have all these fees to pay.

Some of the extra fees you may have to pay include:

Most car rental agencies have a refueling charge if you do not drop off the vehicle with a full tank of gas. You should ensure that when you pick up the vehicle that is has a full tank of gas as well or you will be paying even more when you drop off the vehicle.

A few off the wall car rental rules

This may sound very strange, but you may be charged if you drop off the car early, airport location fees, and late fees. If you have more than one driver, you may learn that you will have to pay an extra $10 to $12 per day. If you need a car seat for your child, when you drop off the car you will be required to pay a fee for the usage of the car seat.

Another big one is the class of vehicle you choose. Just because you believe a car is a compact one, does not necessarily mean the car rental agency has the car under that classification. They may have it under a higher priced classification.
